Meet Our Staff!

Here at Barks and Rec we pride ourselves on our caring and experienced staff.

Hannah Matteson

Manager, Media/Marketing Manager, Kennel/Daycare Shift Lead

Dogs, and all animals for that matter, have always consumed my life. I grew up with a grandma who bred Standard Poodles and my mother who shows Newfoundlands in conformation, so a quiet household has never been the norm. I pride myself is the knowledge I’ve gained from working with animals from all walks of life, from the medical field, to behavioral. When I’m not spending my days with all the Barks and Rec dogs, I devote most of my spare time to my two amazing pups, Meeka (my American Akita) and Mercy (my bully mix). On the days I’m not covered in drool and hair, I’m usually enjoying the outdoors either hiking, biking, shooting archery, or snowboarding. I am pursuing a business degree and plan to open my own sanctuary to help rehabilitate and provide second chances to animal’s who need it most.

 Jenna Burchesky

Receptionist, Kennel/Daycare Shift Lead

I am originally from Boston, Massachusetts, but moved to Eau Claire to pursue my dream of one day being an Olympian! I am currently a member of the US National Curling team. When I’m not training or competing, I’m a student at UWEC finishing up a degree in Organizational Communications. However, my life wouldn’t be complete without dogs! That’s why I always look forward to coming to work every day.

Jennifer Herman

Receptionist, Kennel/Daycare Shift Lead

I am a student at UWEC pursuing a degree in Wildlife Biology, hoping to go into wildlife conservation after graduation. My family had a golden retriever growing up, but I got involved with dogs professionally when I spent a year working for a Humane Society in South Dakota, and later a Veterinary clinic. I don’t currently have a dog, but I have fostered many and plan to adopt once I have finished school! For now, my two cats will have to be enough, along with all the puppy love I get working at Barks and Rec!

Kim Studinger

Office Manager

I was raised in a family that bred and showed Golden Retrievers. Today I work with Lil' Rascals Refuge out of Thorp, Wisconsin, fostering rescued puppy-mill breeder dogs. We have had many dogs in our home over the years! Currently we have a 9 year old Blue Heeler/Labrador mix and an English Bulldog puppy. In my spare time I enjoy snow shoeing and kayaking with my boyfriend and kids!

Haylee Lechleitner

Kennel/Daycare Attendant

I enjoy spending time with my dog Miles, who’s a Treeing Walker Coonhound/Alaskan Malamute. He helped spark my passion for dogs. In my free time I enjoy doing CrossFit, hiking, watching movies, and training dogs. In the future I would love to be a dog trainer and CrossFit coach!

Hannah Lechleitner

I currently own an American Bully named Kudo, and two sugar gliders named Aspen, and Rocky. My family also has a chiweenie named Baylee. In my spare time I enjoy doing CrossFit, hiking, and training my dog, as well as others. I hope to become a dog trainer in the future. I also enjoy hanging with all the dogs who come to Barks and Rec!

Cherie Lun

Kennel/Daycare Attendant

I’ve always had a passion for animals, and I grew up fostering animals for the Coulee Region Humane society! Aside from fostering, I’ve also worked alongside a groomer at Yuppie Puppy in La Crosse, WI and worked as an exam room assistant at Hillside Veterinary Clinic, also in La Crosse. Aside from animals, I love traveling, boating, and spending time with my family!

Ashlyn Jaquish

Kennel/Daycare Attendant

I just started my first year at CVTC, where I am taking my generals and plan to transfer to UW River Falls to pursue a major in Animal Science. I currently live on a hobby farm and have lots of animals including goats, chickens, rabbits, and many more! I have a collie/lab mix named Lily, who loves to watch over and take care of all the animals with us. I enjoy working with animals so much, that I plan to make a career out of it in the future!

Kylee Sauk

Kennel/Daycare Attendant

My name is Kylee and I am in love with training and taking care of dogs. I have my own two, a silver standard poodle and a husky/lab mix! My family also has a black Labrador Retriever and a Yorkie! My lab/husky mix has earned her Trick Dog Novice and Intermediate title so far. I plan on getting more titles in the future for both my pups and doing sports like dock diving! A few of my other hobbies are fishing, hiking and sewing. Working at Barks & Recreation has opened my eyes to so many new things and opportunities. Everyday is a good day at work taking care of all the regulars and new dogs that come in!

Paige Peterson

Kennel/Daycare Attendant

I am 22 years old, born and raised in Mondovi, WI. I attended Rochester Community and Technical College where I got my veterinary technician degree. I worked in a small animal practice for over a year and I have a huge passion for caring for dogs so I branched out to Barks and Recreation. I have a one year old Chinese Sharpei mix named Maggie who I bring there and she loves it, so I want to be where my dog loves to be!
