Meet Our Staff!

Here at Barks and Rec we pride ourselves in our highly trained and experienced staff.

Hannah Matteson

Dogs, and all animals for that matter, have always consumed my life. I pride myself is the knowledge I’ve gained from working with animals from all walks of life, from the medical field, to behavioral. When I’m not spending my days with all the Barks and Rec dogs, I devote most of my spare time to my two amazing pups, Meeka (my American Akita) and Mercy (my Pit mix). On the days I’m not covered in drool and hair, I’m usually enjoying the outdoors either hiking, biking, shooting archery, or snowboarding. I am pursuing a business degree and plan to open my own sanctuary to help rehabilitate and provide second chances to animal’s who need it most.

 Jenna Burchesky

I am originally from Boston, Massachusetts, but moved to Eau Claire to pursue my dream of one day being an Olympian! I am currently a member of the US National Curling team. When I’m not training or competing, I’m a student at UWEC finishing up a degree in Organizational Communications. However, my life wouldn’t be complete without dogs! That’s why I always look forward to coming to work every day.

Jennifer Herman

I am a student at UWEC pursuing a degree in Wildlife Biology, hoping to go into wildlife conservation after graduation. My family had a golden retriever growing up, but I got involved with dogs professionally when I spent a year working for a Humane Society in South Dakota, and later a Veterinary clinic. I don’t currently have a dog, but I have fostered many and plan to adopt once I have finished school! For now, my two cats will have to be enough, along with all the puppy love I get working at Barks and Rec!

Frank LoRusso

My name is Frank, and I will be a senior at Memorial High School next year. I have four dogs, a lab, a boxer, and two springer Spaniels. I do pole vaulting for my school and enjoy hanging out with friends, boating and playing basketball!

Cherie Lun

I’ve always had a passion for animals, and I grew up fostering animals for the Coulee Region Humane society! Aside from fostering, I’ve also worked alongside a groomer at Yuppie Puppy in La Crosse, WI and worked as an exam room assistant at Hillside Veterinary Clinic, also in La Crosse. Aside from animals, I love traveling, boating, and spending time with my family!

Ashlyn Jaquish

I just started my first year at CVTC, where I am taking my generals and plan to transfer to UW River Falls to pursue a major in Animal Science. I currently live on a hobby farm and have lots of animals including goats, chickens, rabbits, and many more! I have a collie/lab mix named Lily, who loves to watch over and take care of all the animals with us. I enjoy working with animals so much, that I plan to make a career out of it in the future!

Luke Revello

I’m 26 years old, and I graduated from CVTC with a Manufacturing Engineering Technology degree. My family and I have successfully raised two leader dogs for the blind. I currently have three dogs at home. My Cane Corso, Breeze, and my two Golden Retrievers, Rain and Willow. Willow is Rains mother and is also a trained therapy dog. In my free time I enjoy playing and competing in USTA tennis tournaments and working on my cars.

Kylee Sauk

Pictured with me is Piper, my husky/lab mix and Django, my boyfriend’s boxer. Some of my favorite hobbies include sewing, photography, and hiking!

Hannah Lechleitner

I currently own an American Bully named Kudo, and two sugar gliders named Aspen, and Rocky. My family also has a chiweenie named Baylee. In my spare time I enjoy doing CrossFit, hiking, and training my dog, as well as others. I hope to become a dog trainer in the future. I also enjoy hanging with all the dogs who come to Barks and Rec!

Haylee Lechleitner

I enjoy spending time with my dog Miles, who’s a Treeing Walker Coonhound/Alaskan Malamute. He helped spark my passion for dogs. In my free time I enjoy doing CrossFit, hiking, watching movies, and training dogs. In the future I would love to be a dog trainer and CrossFit coach!
